The 2009 NC State H.O.G. rally will take place in small town, biker friendly Mt. Airy and surrounding Surry County. Surry County is host to one of the most unique mountain formations east of the Mississippi--Pilot Mountain. The eastern part of the county hosts the largest open-faced granite quarry in the world. The natural center of the famous Blue Ridge Parkway where thousands of bikers visit every year, lies just to the north of Surry County. What else then does Mt. Airy/Surry County offer the 2009 NC State Rally attendee?
MOTORCYCLES As Harley-Davidson owners we rally to discover new rides, make new friends, and visit with old friends. We laugh, we party, and we find new adventures. When motorcyclists are welcomed by a biker friendly area we know we have a unique opportunity to be a part of a special motorcycle rally experience.
MOUNTAINS What goes better with motorcycles than mountains? Twisty roads, breathtaking scenery, and lots of riding opportunities will be the highlight of every day. Ride to your hearts content on the suggested routes or create your own, on the parkway, to famous Pilot Mountain, to the granite quarry, or to lover's leap. Ride on observation rides to local dealers. Ride to famous Rockford, to historic Elkin, to Dobson, or to local wineries. Riders can take part in the parade and show off your riding skills in the bike games. The area roads are well-maintained with smooth surfaces. Some of the suggested rides are challenging but there suggested routes for all levels of riding experience. Maps will be available that will allow the rider to take advantage of these rides without concern.
MUSIC Every morning, every afternoon, and every evening the attendee can find music somewhere. Bluegrass, southern rock, blues, and who knows Elvis may make an appearance. Music will be available at local restaurants, street parties, and theaters. The highlight of the entertainment will be the
TIM CLARK BAND.
MEMORIES The action will be non-stop, keeping the rally attendee busy every minute of every day if she/he chooses. Be sure to visit and tour local wineries, join in the street parties, visit the local places the Andy Griffith show made famous, visit the many vendor areas, see action packed wrestling, or just relax in the areas famous biker friendly watering holes.
These are some of the events being planned for the rally. Visit our schedule page for a full listing by day and hour. To the left of the screen is a list of websites to visit for additional information about the area.
We hope you will join us August 19-22, 2009 in Mt. Airy, NC. If you have questions call our information hot line at 704-902-0307.
